Why farm pets

Every pet level adds stats to the whole account and XP to Genus Insight. Farm the pets first — Insight comes later and costs less that way.

Aion 2 Pet Tracker Beta

A Windows app for the farm: it records your pets from the pet menu, counts the souls you pick up while you farm and keeps the pets you hunt in an overlay on top of the game.

  • On Global a pet goes up to level 3 (Korea has 5). Every level adds stats; the pet menu lists them all under the owned effects. ▶ 1:09
  • Every pet level also gives Genus Insight XP to its wheel — see Genus Insight below before you spend anything on it.

Which pets first

  • Cogni pets to max level first: each gives +2 Critical Hit and +1 Might. Some only come from boxes — level every one you can farm. Fubgun
  • Natura pets next: +1 Precision each at max level.
  • Fera and Varian pets are not worth the time.
  • Pets and Genus Insight are shared by every character on the account — progress on an alt counts too.

Find the pet's monster

The game shows where to teleport, not where the monsters walk. A pet wiki, the other faction's zones and the names that don't match.

  • The Source pins in the pet menu only mark the teleport closest to the monsters — not the spots where they spawn. ▶ 4:08
  • wikily.gg lists all 208 pets: the genus of each, the item that gives the pet and its soul, and where they come from. Search the pet there to see which monster to hunt.
  • On a busy server the spots can be contested, and some pets have only a few spawn points.
  • The names don't always match. Aragon's Krall Warriors from the map are called Krall Test Subjects in their zone — they still drop the same pet's souls. ▶ 12:18

Pets on the other faction's map

  • Some pets live only on the other faction's map. You get there through the Rift: when it opens, a purple rift shows on your map — fly in. The Rift timer at the top of this site shows when it opens in your region. ▶ 6:10
  • You have one hour there (the timer next to the minimap). Keep away from the guards — they kill you.
  • Die there and you are back on your own map, with no way in until the next opening. A Kisk placed on the enemy map lets you respawn there instead.

Farm faster

The daily kinah cap, melee skills that reset on a kill, one targeting setting and auto-loot.

  • Mobs give up to 1,000,000 kinah a day. Farm pets until you reach it — about an hour on an endgame build, says Aragon — then stop until the next day. ▶ 2:23
  • On the way you also get legendary drops and refining stones. Both sell well, because players burn them on soulbinds. Fully free-to-play without the market? Keep them for your own.
  • Melee: every melee damage dealer has a skill whose cooldown resets on a kill. Dash from one mob to the next with it — in a spot with many mobs and few other players. ▶ 11:01
  • Templar: Doom Shield with the level 15 stigma tier (resets its cooldown when you defeat an enemy). Without it Aragon would not farm the daily cap on a Templar. Stigma shards come from the Abyss shop, the Shugo Festival shop and the Nightmare Shop.
  • Settings → Combat → Controls → Auto Target Upon Skill Use: ON while any mob will do. Turn it off when you hunt one pet's monster and must stay on that target.
  • Auto-loot: the Pet: Auto-Loot Voucher (30 Days) in the shop, 500,000 kinah with the membership (twice a month per character). Without it you pick up every soul with F. ▶ 14:44
  • Don't AFK-farm. Aragon's warning: the same actions over and over without real input get the account flagged as a bot. A captcha comes up, and if you miss it you turn into a blob that players can kill, with the market locked.

Cubes

The fastest source of crystals for Genus Insight — and easy to miss in the open world.

  • A cube gives about 1,000 crystals for Genus Insight; you open it with a key. ▶ 12:59
  • Find them by sound: Settings → Audio — everything off except the sound effects, and those turned up high. A cube nearby makes a chime; go there and spend a key.
  • No rush. Insight can wait until most of your pets are levelled. Later fewer players still have keys, and the cubes are easier to find.

Halloween event: the Halloween chest costs 250 event coins (from the season missions) and gives a skin and 10,000 crystals — as much as 10 cubes. ▶ 14:15

Genus Insight

When to level it, how to roll the lines and what to lock on each wheel.

When to level it

  • Not too early. Pet levels alone bring a wheel to about 8–9 (9 takes every pet of its type, the enemy map's too). Spend kinah and crystals after that. ▶ 5:32
  • Insight levels cost rainbow crystals. Cubes give them much faster than farming mobs — plan on about 30–40 cubes to bring every wheel to 10 and roll its lines. Fubgun
  • Every wheel to 10 first. All five at 10 unlock the Unbound by Genus title (After level 45 → Titles).

Rolling and locking

  • Roll with Auto Analyze: tick the stats you want, slide the grade to Unique or Heroic and start — it rolls until one of them comes up, then stops. ▶ 7:20
  • Lock a line when its value is near the top of its range. Aragon keeps a 2.3% on a damage line; an Attack Bonus of 10 out of 16 he leaves unlocked.
  • Lock in three stages: lines 1, 4 and 5 first, then 3, 6 and 9, then 2, 7 and 8.
LinesStat (range)Stage
1 and 5Attack Bonus 8–16 (or Max Attack)1st

Why not PvE Accuracy or Front Attack

  • The god stats multiply the flat stats: Might raises Attack, Freedom raises Accuracy, Precision raises Critical Hit. Aragon added it up — PvE Accuracy and Front Attack get nothing from them. ▶ 9:49
  • So he takes flat Accuracy, Critical Hit and Attack Bonus instead. You get more god stats over time (Pantheon), and the flat lines grow with them.

Fubgun's wheels (a damage dealer, all at 10) also keep PvE Accuracy and Front Attack lines when they roll — Aragon would roll them again. On line 4 they agree, except Cogni (Fubgun: Damage Boost) and Varian (Fubgun: PvE Damage Boost). Tanks and healers pick differently; the Templar and Cleric guides have their own lines. Fubgun
